Early Life and Noble Lineage
Umar ibn Al-Khattaab was born into a very noble family. His lineage meets with that of the Prophet ﷺ in the eighth generation. He belonged to the Banoo ‘Adi branch of the Quraysh.
He was also known as Aboo Hafs, and the Prophet ﷺ gave him the title Al-Faarooq – the one who separates truth from falsehood. Umar was born approximately thirteen years after the Prophet ﷺ.
