Worshipping Other Than Allah ﷻ

What is the consequence of worshipping anything other than Allah ﷻ ?

• The consequence of shirk is mentioned in the Qur’aan and Sunnah many times.

Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’aan:

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ۚ( سورة النساء:١١٦)

“Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him. But He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills.” (Soorat an-Nisaa:116)

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ فِى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ ۚ( سورة البينة  : ٦)

“Indeed, they who disbelieved among the people of the scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, and abide there forever.” (Soorat al-Bayyinah:6)

• There are also many ahaadeeth that mention the dangers of shirk. The following is one example:

من مات يُشْرِكُ بالله دخل النار ( البخاري)

‘Abdullah ibn Masood narrated that Allah’s Messenger said, “Whosoever dies worshipping others with Allah will definitely enter Hell.” (Al-Bukhaari)

• It can be seen that the result of worshipping anything other than Allah ﷻ , and dying without repenting, has very dangerous consequences. Those types of people will enter the Hellfire and stay there forever, suffering an everlasting punishment. Allah ﷻ will not accept any of the good deeds of a person who commits shirk. Allah ﷻ will also forbid Paradise to that person. Examples of shirk are to believe that someone else can create like Allah creates or to make du’aa to something other than Allah ﷻ .

Muslims should be very careful of shirk and stay away from it.

What we learn from the lesson:

1. Muslims do not worship anything except Allah ﷻ .
2. People who die without having repented from shirk will never enter Paradise.
